What it involves

When the time comes, your pet can stay where they feel safest: on their own bed, with the people they love beside them. A vet comes to your home at a time that suits you.

Your pet is given a sedative first, so they relax and fall asleep before anything else happens. The vet does not rush and stays as long as your family needs.

Afterwards, we can take your pet into our care for individual or communal cremation, so there is nothing else for you to organise.

Included

  • A vet visit to your home at an agreed time
  • Gentle sedation before the procedure
  • Time to say goodbye, without rushing
  • Aftercare arranged on the same visit if you wish

Questions about in-home euthanasia

What happens during an in-home euthanasia?

The vet explains each step first. Your pet receives a sedative and falls into a deep sleep; only then is the final injection given. You can stay with your pet the whole time.

Can children be present?

That is your choice. Many families stay together. The vet can explain what is happening in a way that suits your children’s ages.

How do I know it is time?

There is rarely a perfect moment. Ongoing pain, refusing food, trouble breathing or no longer enjoying the things they loved can all be signs. Your own vet knows your pet best and can help you decide.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on your pet’s size and the time of the visit. Call (02) 9188 9346 and we will give you the full price before anything is booked.
